Round up the family for some beach cricket or grab some fish and chips for a fun day out at the beach. Ōpunakē Beach offers safe swimming and is only a short walk from the centre of Ōpunakē township.
The crescent-shaped Ōpunakē's beach is a popular stop along Surf Highway 45 and a busy destination with families over summer. The sheltered, sandy beach has good facilities for beach goers including picnic tables, barbecues and a playground. The beach is patrolled weekends and public holidays during the summer months and there are also professional Lifeguards working during the school holidays.
The nearby Ōpunakē Walkway should also be on your to-do list and the adjacent Ōpunakē Beach Kiwi Holiday Park is the ideal spot to pitch your tent and enjoy the beach for a few days.
