Stratford Children’s Bike Park and Victoria Park Playground
Opened in 2022, the Stratford Children’s Bike Park is located on Victoria Park, behind the children’s playground, and includes a children’s cycle track ideal for kids to learn and gain bicycle confidence, as well as a pump track, a half basketball court, and a BBQ pavilion for a day of family fun.
The cycle track features a miniature replica Glockenspiel tower, matching the iconic one situated on Broadway in Stratford, as well as working traffic lights, give way signs, a roundabout, and tipping balance beam for the brave of heart wanting to daredevil safely on their bike.
The asphalt pump track features rollers and berms, and its smart design means bike riders of all ages and skill levels are able to safely navigate the course.
The concrete artwork used within the cycle track and the surrounding pathways are by local artist Whakehoka Smith, and which tells a story that centres around the importance of whānau and support by a community.
The adjacent children’s playground offers hours of fun for kids of all ages and sizes. Slides, swings, climbing frames, and the ever popular hamster wheel offer plenty of options for when the kids need a break from their bikes. Bring a picnic or something to cook on the BBQ for a day of family-friendly entertainment.
