YMCA Taranaki is currently looking for an experienced manager who can lead our Education operations of our organisation in New Plymouth, who can bring energy and drive to an amazing team. Join a collaborative and supportive environment where leadership development is a priority.

The Youth Education Manager will:
• Provide strong leadership and academic management.
• Have overall responsibility for the development and high quality delivery of programmes according to the curriculum guidelines and ensure compliance is monitored following the policies and standards.
• Oversee and guide tutors with planning and implementing programme delivery.
• Build trusted relationships with learners, tutors, whanau, community groups/agencies and other stakeholders.
• Report on education performance to the Senior Manager, CEO and relevant government agencies.
• Manage the financial budgets of the Youth Education department, ensuring requirements of funding contracts are met and the appropriate reporting systems are in place.
• Providing classroom and transporting of students cover for tutors if required.

What you will need to succeed in this role:

• Experience within the education industry and an appropriate industry related qualification.
• Experience in a management or leadership role.
• A forward-thinking mind set for developing relationships both externally and internally.
• Strong written and oral interpersonal communication.
• Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Te Ao Maori me ona Tikanga.
• Experience working with and the ability to relate with rangatahi.
• An understanding of the issues and challenges facing young people.
• Knowledge and understanding of NZ education standards including NZQA.
• Knowledge and experience in moderation and assessment practices.
• Ability to engage and motivate/inspire young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge and understanding of health and safety and other legal and governmental requirements related to the operation of the business area.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
• Unit standard 4098 and the NC in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 or be willing to study to achieve these.
• Full driver’s licence and the ability to transport students in a van.
• First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain one.
