What's the job?
InterGroup are New Zealand's Infrastructure and Industrial Services specialists, delivering services in waste management, industrial services, coatings, and infrastructure. That's where you come in, are you up for the challenge?
The main focus of your role will be the removal of marine growth, corrosion and coatings; cleaning surfaces including hull, decks and flight decks; cleaning of pipes, ducting, tubes, engine rooms, boilers, plant etc. - all using abrasive blasting, HP (high pressure up to 4,000psi) and UHP ultra-high pressure water blasting up to 40,000 psi.
You'll benefit from:
Job security – we're an essential service and there will always be work for you
A hands-on training program with a wide range of courses e.g obtaining a BOSIET license to travel offshore.
A welcoming, helpful team – our characters are down to earth and all willing to muck in to give each other a hand - everyone feels like they belong here
Heaps of development and opportunities for growth
True health and safety – you'll never have to work in an unsafe environment or in a situation where you feel uncomfortable
The chance to work on iconic projects that have helped your communities and that you can be proud of – such as cleaning/restoring a Naval ship to become a fishing trawler in a rural community, maintaining the harbor bridge, and keeping stormwater drains clear to prevent flooding.
Are you the right fit?
You'll be a character who's always wanting to learn and grow your voice matters here, and you'll be empowered to make decisions, not just take directions. We're hoping you'll be a team-player and ready to join our awesome team who look after each other and have each other's backs. previous experience in marine industry is not a pre-requisite; we are willing to train the right person. This role will require the person to travel offshore and hence a BOSIET license would be ideal, we will support with obtaining this.

The technical stuff you'll need includes:
Minimum 1 year experience using high pressure water blasting, abrasive blasting, and spray-painting equipment to prepare surfaces
The ability to apply protective coatings to surfaces

A high-level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a confined space from time to time
