Functional Family Therapist – Taranaki



About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We are seeking a professional (i.e. social worker, counsellor, psychotherapist, nurse) who is enthusiastic about working as a whanau therapist with rangatahi aged 10-17 who have complex mental health, emotional and/or behavioural needs. We are looking for someone in the Taranaki area, who is comfortable travelling throughout this region. This is a temporary role for 12 months.

Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an evidence-based approach where the practitioner provides weekly whanau/family therapy sessions in the families own homes (training will be provided). This role involves travel across the Manawatu and Whanganui area.



About You | Mōu

Bachelors/Master's degree in counselling, social work, psychology, psychotherapy, or other related health field
A registered health professional under the HPCA Act, or Social Work registration
Can work flexible hours and has great time management
Would enjoy working from home
Values the importance of supervision
Ability to build strong relationships with peers and stakeholders
Have a full and clean New Zealand driver's licence
Be willing to undergo Ministry of Social Development (MSD) check and police vetting
High level of resilience.
A passion for helping young people strengthen and build on their character by developing sustainable life skills.
Knowledge and understanding about the impacts of colonisation for tangata whenua, and for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Ability and willingness to work with tangata whenua in a way that upholds our organisational commitments and obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We are a specialised non-profit tangata Tiriti organisation which specialises in providing therapeutic services for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau young people who have complex behaviour and/or mental health needs. Our innovative approach combines evidence-based models of practice along with a focus on our Tikanga: core values of Manaakitanga, Wairuatanga, Aroha and Whanaungatanga.

Our innovative approach combines Western evidence-based models with maatauranga Maaori and Pasifika knowledge.
