We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team who is innovative, wants to achieve and grow as an engineer. This is the chance for you to begin an exciting journey with BTW Company as an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer based in our New Plymouth office. The seniority of the role depends on your relevant experience and capability.
We have ongoing demand for a range of interesting structural projects and require a Structural Engineer to join our team to assist with delivery of these projects. We work on a variety of projects from new builds to modification of existing structures, in both the residential and commercial settings, with some occasional projects in the industrial sector.
You will become a core part of the overall BTW team and will feel that your contribution makes a tangible difference.

As a Structural Engineer at BTW, you will be responsible for undertaking the following work (depending on your experience and skill set):

Structural engineering design and documentation from the preliminary design phase through to construction stage
Produce high quality concept sketches and arrangements for our inhouse structural draughtsperson
Working closely alongside our inhouse Civil and Geotechnical Team
Liaison with Clients and Architects
Development and improvement of design systems and processes
Project management and technical site observations
To apply for this role you ideally need:

A Washington accord degree equivalent in Civil Engineering
Ideally working towards Charted Professional Engineer (CPEng) or hold CPEng and be a member of Engineering NZ
In excess of 3 years’ experience post degree related to Structural engineering – with a significant amount gained in New Zealand
Strong knowledge of structural engineering including seismic assessment and design
Experience and capability in client interaction and client management
Experience in overseeing projects and undertaking technical site observation.
The ability to develop and sustain strong relationships with staff, customers, and contractors
