Te Pā Harakeke – Māori Health and Equity Directorate
Permanent, full time
1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week
We are seeking a courageous person who is inspired by te Tiriti o Waitangi
Will you challenge the status quo to bring ground-breaking ideas into reality?
Do you want to be part of transforming our health and disability system and services in Taranaki?
At Taranaki District Health Board (Taranaki DHB) we serve a population of approximately 124,380 people, of which 19.8% identify as Māori, residing within the geographical area that is described as ‘Paraninihi ki Waitōtara, Waitōtara ki Taipakē’; spanning from the white cliffs of Pukearuhe to the Waitōtara River in Ngā Rauru and from the Waitōtara river to Taipakē which is the most southern point of the Ngā Rauru iwi.

“Over the next 25 years we must be innovative and courageous in our thinking and actions to absolutely ensure that our health system is indigenised and that the delivery of Tiriti o Waitangi obligations is achieved for the whānau and communities we serve. We will know we are heading in the right direction over the next three to five years because we will be confidently co-designing, co-deciding, and co-delivering health services with iwi and Māori health care providers in a way that responds appropriately to the total population, takes a life course approach, and applies kaupapa Māori models and modes of care that place whānau at the centre, where they are protected and have options for self-determining what is an effective hauora plan for them and their communities.”
