Te āheinga - The opportunity

Are you passionate about shaping the future landscape of our community? Do you possess a keen strategic mindset and an aptitude for property management? New Plymouth District Council invites applications for the role of Strategic Property Advisor to join our dynamic team.

As a Strategic Property Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in advising and executing property strategies that align with the council's objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of New Plymouth while ensuring prudent management of our property assets.

Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:

- Undertake acquisition and disposal (including Statutory Land Management actions) of Council property interests in a timely manner
- Provide support to the Property Manager and work with other Council Teams in developing and maintaining a strategic plan for the council property portfolio and progress implementation of Council policy and strategy
- Build and maintain strong productive relationships across Council, Elected Members, iwi and hapu and with landowners to enable the work plan to be delivered
- Identify business opportunities, creative solutions and ensure best practices are applied
- Provide support to the Property Manager in ensuring team performance meets expectations and in developing team members through active mentoring and coaching
- Actively ensure that good employer obligations and legislative requirements are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:

- Maintains cultural awareness and keeps up to date with issues affecting iwi and the community
- The active application of technical expertise to strengthen business performance and delivery
- Works collaboratively with others to enhance and/or develop organisation performance
- Takes responsibility and accountability for own actions and day to day decision making
- Effective performance and delivery within a political environment
- Relevant property tertiary qualification
- Five years experience in a property or similar type of role
- Knowledge of local government property environment helpful but not essential
