About the role

Tūtaki Youth Incorporated are looking for an energetic, passionate and an experienced Social Worker, who has an interest in the wellbeing of tamariki, rangatahi and our community.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Tūtaki provides youth and social work services to children, young people and their whānau from our multi purpose facility located in Stratford, Central Taranaki.

This role is child focussed so you will work directly with children and young people, alongside their whānau to provide the best outcomes for their needs.

About you

This role is fairly autonomous so we do require someone who is confident in their practice and comfortable working independently. Children and young people will be the centre of your work, so you will have experience working with children therapeutically, ideally a minimum of 1 year. You will have a sound understanding of best practice and relevant protection, privacy and confidentiality policies when working with children and young people. It goes without saying you will have the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and practise in a way that recognises and values differences. You will also need to hold relevant qualifications and be a member of a recognised professional body. Some travel may be necessary across Central Taranaki to pick up clients or attend meetings, so a full New Zealand Class 1 Drivers Licence will be required.

Some of the work you will do: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop and maintain relationships with young people, whānau, schools, organisations and stakeholders
Support clients using a holistic approach utilising current social work theories and practice
Work collaboratively with clients to develop client plans that include goals, identifying risk, outline an action plan and case review date
Provide follow up and appropriate referral/s to other service/s for all clients
Provide appropriate information and support to client and whānau
Ensue client case notes are kept up to date and are completed in a clear and concise way using best practise frameworks
Practice in accordance with legal, ethical, cultural, safety and professional standards, policies and procedures


You will have the following qualities: PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

Preference given to qualified Social Worker, (however other qualified professional may be considered)
Current member of a professional body
Can demonstrates their experience in practice and casework
Passion and ability to connect with children (tamariki) and young people (rangatahi)
Knowledge of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a diverse team
Excellent time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Competent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications
Hold a current Class 1, New Zealand Drivers License
The successful candidate will be Police Vetted in accordance with the Children Act 2014.
