Our Kaitiaki Matua, Senior Rangers form an integral part of our Te Kuiti Maniapoto district team and we have an opportunity for someone with the right skills and experience to join us as a Senior Ranger, Heritage and Visitors. He angitūtanga: About the Role

This role works closely alongside our District Leadership team to support the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of our district work programme to our Pou Matarautaki (Operation Manager). No two days are the same and the scope of the work is varied and diverse. This role will specifically focus on work scheduling and managing visitor assets and could be anything from the identifying maintenance issues with our tracks and utilities, to planning work within budget and resources and allocating out to teams.



Other key accountabilities of this role include

Lead planning of the annual, quarterly and monthly work programmes for the Operations Manager
Plan, phase and track budget (including capital), identify critical cost pressures and recommend solutions
Assist the Operations Manager to monitor field operations and systems to inform planning and reporting
Actively work closely with whānau, hapū and iwi


He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for

You will be someone who is keen to deliver on our conservation goals. Your ability to think strategically and act operationally will contribute to the successful planning and scheduling of work programmes across the district. Your experience with engaging with mana whenua or demonstrated willingness to learn and engage will be the key to your success in this role.



In addition, we need someone with:

Knowledge of operational field work in one or more of the following areas:
Management of facilities, amenities and sites
Visitor experience and risk management
Construction and maintenance of sites and assets
Scheduling and prioritisation of work orders
Strong critical thinking and analysis skills
The ability to manage and translate priorities into operational work plans
Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver messages that are understood by all levels of the organisation
A strong focus on continuous improvement and the ability to enhance organisational performance
The ability to work in true partnership with others across DOC and external stakeholders including local whānau, hapū and iwi
Experience with SAP or other similar databases and systems e.g. Asset Management Information System
Full New Zealand Drivers Licence


Desired:

Cultural competency and/or experience with working with mana whenua is desirable
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori is an advantage


This is a full-time position based in Te Kuiti or Pureora.
