Are you an experienced youth worker with a passion for programmes? Or a project coordinator with a passion for young people?

Zeal Taranaki is looking for a programmes coordinator who can grow Zeal education programmes, building positive and effective relationships and fostering belonging, mastery, independence and generosity in young people. These programs are focussed on rangatahi who have already or at risk of disengaging from education. The programs are designed to either re-engage young people in education and/or training, or help them take their first steps towards employment.

Role Description

At Zeal, we’re all about giving our lives for young people. And we're looking for someone to join our team in Taranaki.

You will be responsible for running of our education programs. You will be focussed on connecting with our Taranaki young people and providing connection to Zeal and our services and coordinating our education programmes.

There will also be some administration work in this role.

In all this, you will keep the care and experience of Taranaki young people at the heart, building genuine relationships that affect and change you personally. We love our young people. And we expect you too also.



Key responsibilities

Proactively engage with young people and build positive and effective relationships, in line with best practice strengths-based youth development.
Connect young people to Zeal’s programmes and services.
Mentor and provide holistic support to young people who are disengaging from education
Assist the Manager and other Zeal staff in coordinating the drop-in space and other youth work activities.
Work alongside other Zeal staff, implementing the strategic direction of Zeal.
Proactively manage contractual requirements for relevant funding agreements.
Meet all administrative, reporting and file management requirements.
Comply with all health and safety procedures, reporting any health and safety issues, hazards or possible risks to the Manager.
To assist the Manager in any other capacity as directed.
Skills and experience

You know your stuff. You’ve got a relevant tertiary qualification or 2+ years’ experience in teaching, youth/community development or programme coordination, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
You project manage like a boss, self-motivating and taking initiative at every step.
You create kick ass youth education programmes.
You geek out on being organised.
You excel at communication, particularly written and interpersonal.
You think outside the box to produce fresh ideas and concepts.
You've got experience and ability in managing and keeping to budgets.
You have experience in marketing and promotion.
Young people and creativity are deeply important to you, and you've got the experience and knowledge to back it up.
You're hungry. When you wake in the morning your stomach rumbles, waiting to be filled with epic social change.
