Te Kāhui o Taranaki Trust is the Post-Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE) for Taranaki Iwi. Te Kāhui o Taranaki has been mandated to speak on matters affecting the collective interest of Ngā Uri o Taranaki Iwi and has certain political, social, cultural and economic responsibilities in addition to the asset management and distribution responsibilities. Te Kāhui o Taranaki gives effect to these responsibilities through our five strategic whenu.

Taketake Tangata | Takea ki te pūtake – To ensure and enable the voice of influence and advocacy for Taranaki iwi and our marae pā, hapū and uri.
Kawe Whakahaere | Rurungia ki te pā whakaruru – Providing the shelter and environment to protect and grow the capacity and capability to implement our iwi aspirations.

Taranakitanga | Whiria te muka – Strengthen our Taranaki iwi cultural identity and bring us together as whānau.
The ability to effectively interact with our uri, whanau, hapū and marae pa is of the highest importance to our organisation. Providing information, structure, knowledge and a positive environment that creates a strong sense of connection and belonging. Ultimately, inspiring success and intergenerational growth for our Iwi community.
Our Pou Whakatoka will lead initiatives that strengthen cultural identity and whānaungatanga, deepening our knowledge and connection to our history, tikanga and kawa. Taking an active role in building the cultural capability of ngā uri o Taranaki Iwi by supporting our cultural and te reo development programs.
The Pou Whakatoka will lead our engagement and communication team who deliver a broad range of communication and engagement services for Te Kāhui o Taranaki iwi. Overseeing the creation of resources designed to enrich our knowledge and connection to our history, whakapapa, tikanga and kawa will be a core function of this role.
Ko wai koe | About You
You have an in-depth knowledge of Taranaki Iwi, tikanga, history and the stories on which they are based. As an excellent communicator you are comfortable working across a diverse internal and external groups including marae pā hapū, whanau, uri, and external organisations. You will be an analytical thinker with proven leadership skills along with the ability to navigating multiple work streams and present complex information in a clear and coherent fashion. Ideally you will:
Have an in-depth understanding of traditional Maori values and knowledge including history, traditions and stories on which they are based.
Be proficiency in Te Reo Maori and understanding of the tikanga and kawa of Taranaki Iwi
Actively incorporate and represent Te ao Maori in your work.
Demonstrate ability in culturally sensitive situations
Be an effective communicator with expertise in programme and wānanga facilitation.
Have the ability to collate and curate Taranaki Iwi taonga, histories, stories and whakapapa.
Assume responsibility and accountability for successfully completing tasks
Be a highly motivated leader committed to excellence and achieving results.
Constantly striving for high performance, balanced with a concern for people and due process.
Develop and use collaborative relationships and seek opportunities to proactively build effective working relationships with other people;
Behave in a co-operative and supportive manner within the Iwi by actively contributing whilst remaining flexible to the needs of others.
