Joining a hard-working remote team who are passionate about supporting our farmer suppliers to navigate a rapidly changing environment. This is an active farmer-facing role and so will require substantial time on the road, balanced with some time in the office. Be a part of a growing and innovative area in our business covering the Western North Island Livestock Region. Get in and help shape our farm sustainability programmes and nature positive ambition.
Te Tūranga /About the role:
Joining our Farm Sustainability Team on a fixed-term until December 2025, we are looking for an On-Farm Sustainability Advisor to provide strategically focused specialist guidance and advice to our Farmer Suppliers, communities, Livestock, and Agribusiness teams. This position focuses on providing support to our Western North Island Livestock Region.\
You'll work with our suppliers to deliver our farmer facing Nature Positive programmes including NZFAP Plus, carbon removals measurement, emissions reduction commitments, adoption of sustainable farming practices, and regulatory changes. Success enables our suppliers to deliver sustainable good practice farming systems that advance Silver Fern Farms' sustainability targets, delivering on our business goals of becoming a trusted nature positive producer and committed to always being market led.
This role can be based in a number of locations, given the travel associated with the position. Ideally you will be based somewhere that enables you to access suppliers across the western North Island region.

Being self-motivated and driven with outstanding rapport-building abilities will set the best foundation for you in this role. You'll have demonstrated experience in relationship building and being able to persuade and influence others to resolve issues with a high degree of certainty and consensus. A natural collaborator, with a strong ability to work cross-functionally to deliver business success.
In addition, you'll bring;
Tertiary qualification in agriculture or environmental management/sciences.
Experience working with farmers or in a farming environment.
Solid understanding of sustainability & environmental issues, strategies, initiatives, policies.
Understanding of, and empathy for, New Zealand's farming systems and challenges faced.
