About the role
Our New Plymouth team is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer from a diverse technical background to lead our talented mechanical team and continue the development of our service offering.
While technical ability is important, key attributes for success are passion, collaboration and approachability.
As part of an energetic company with a focus on customer service you'll be well supported in this role. Ideally, you will have worked in a leadership role, however if you have the charisma and passion to be a leader, we look forward to talking to you!
We look for customer and delivery focused leaders, who are proactive in the management of projects for clients, guiding the team to deliver projects on time and to scope and budget. In a typical day you will:
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Be hands on and proactive in supporting the team to deliver on their commitments.
Be a champion for a working environment that is energetic, safe and fun.
Be proactive in the continuous development and success of your team.

Lead by example and be prepared to roll up your sleeves and achieve results for the client and the team.
Maintain mechanical engineering standards across all projects
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and peers.
Enacting improvements to engineering systems and processes.
Continuous development of industry networks and contacts.
About you
You will have the ability to independently win and run projects as well as lead and oversee the development of a growing team of people as well as being highly experienced in technical mechanical engineering. You will also have highly developed pipe stressing analysis skills and be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, on small/medium size projects. You will also have:
Experience in a range of mechanical engineering skills including NZ pressure equipment,
Experience working in oil and gas facilities or similar heavy or manufacturing industries,
Develop engineering and design standards, systems and processes, where required
Experience generating engineering estimates and quotations,
Ability to work independently on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines,
Degree or equivalent experience/qualifications is required in Mechanical Engineering.
