The opportunity

The primary focus of this role is to manage the maintenance and compliance of the Marine Services fleet, ensuring vessels are adequately resourced and maintained for optimal functionality. Additionally, the role involves managing the resourcing and staffing of Tug Crews to ensure safe and effective operations.

We are committed to excellence and safety and are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to take on this crucial role of Marine Technical Manager. Other key role responsibilities include:

Leadership and management of the Tug Crew Members, including managing rosters and resourcing of the Tug Team
Maintain and compliance of fleet vehicle, including compliance with class and maritime New Zealand Rules, oversight of the maintenance programme, and marine expenditure and improvement plans.
Ensuring compliance and implementation of the Maritime Transport Operator Safety System.
Lead major Marine Engineering projects, manage and execute project work, continue with the strategic planning.
To maintain competency as an operational Tug Engineer.
Engage and be involved with Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
Provide high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
Identify and support continuous improvement within Marine Team.
About you

You may have experience marine management and be able to be agile in your day-to-day work. In setting you up for success you ideally also have the following:

Marine Engineering experience with specific experience in Marine Fleet Management, Chief Engineering of a STCE or Marine Project Experience.
MEC2ECE or MEC1
Leadership and management experience
Strong relationship building skills.
Are a dynamic self-starter with a growth mindset.
Confident to work within a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
Able to report and analyse information accurately.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
