Mō te Tūnga - About the role
The Land Management Officer - Hill Country, works with our farmers, delivering innovative, well-resourced, and widely accepted environmental enhancement programmes.
Our advisory and extension services are provided to land users without charge and are in strong demand.
You will be supported by the Hill Country Team Leader, and Land Management section.
Key duties:
- Promote sustainable land management, as part of our wider Land Services team
- Implement the Council's sustainable land management programmes
- Create positive and productive relationships with land users in our region

Here are the skills and experience that will set you up for success in this special role:
- Studied in a relevant field, e.g. natural resource management, forestry, soil conservation, agriculture, or similar
- Passionate about influencing positive outcomes for our environment
- Superb communicator, shares knowledge, and fosters community
- Practical understanding of rural activities, and is resourceful and versatile
- Solid organisational skills to prioritise tasks and plan ahead
- Has a level of health and fitness to work in all weather and rough terrains
- Competency in various technology suites, including Microsoft and GIS
- Understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991 and/or National Policy Statement for Freshwater 2020
- Has legal rights to work in New Zealand
