We are looking for a Laboratory Technician with a high level of initiative to join our Production Operations team. If you are motivated by working in a fast paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you!

You will have hands-on experience in oil and gas operations or a similar industry. You’ll offer sound understanding of analytical chemistry and are a competent communicator, possessing the ability to ensure smooth operation of Laboratory procedures through maintenance of consumables, standards and equipment. You like the idea of working in a fast paced and productive team where you carry out your work in a safe, professional and timely manner and provide technical advice to the business for production chemistry related issues.

Our Location

Our McKee Mangahewa and Kapuni Production Stations, along with our Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant are a short drive out of the city from our head office based in New Plymouth. This role will be based across out Kapuni assets.


The Role

This role involves completing analyses required for both daily operations and product certification across the Todd Energy Kapuni assets. This role is accountable for collecting samples and carrying out analyses to ensure the Asset is operating within recommended guidelines and producing products that are within specifications as well as, assisting with the day-to-day requirements for the Asset to maintain environmental regulatory compliance.

Suitable applicants must have:

Chemistry or similar science-based degree (chemical/process) preferred, or
NZ Diploma level 6/7 in Chemistry/Science
Any further education, KTP experience, etc. would be an advantage
Practical experience with testing and analysis methods in the oil and gas industry is preferred
Basic knowledge of laboratory quality systems and certification requirements (specifically IANZ)
Knowledge of relevant Operating standards and regulations.
Understanding of continuous improvement and operational excellence in oil and gas operations
Ability to drive issues and proactively influence others with sound technical reasoning.
Motivated, self-starting, independent individual with high level of initiative.
Ability to set priorities on competing issues.
Ability to interact with a wide variety of personnel.
Clear communicator with good interpersonal skills.
