We are looking for a dedicated and team focused Laboratory Services Coordinator to join our team! This is a permanent, full-time role based in Stratford, Taranaki.

Environment Quality is one of our four directorates at the Taranaki Regional Council. The team collects, monitors, compiles and assesses a range of data related to different aspects of the Taranaki environment (i.e. climate, air, land and water). This work informs both regional and national policy development and implementation, and as a directorate contributes to the delivery of state of environment and compliance monitoring and reporting.
Mō te tūnga - About the role
This role will serve as the primary contact for the Council's external laboratory services provider and be responsible for the day to day management of the lab services contract. In addition, the successful applicant will provide technical and administrative support to the Environment Quality and Compliance sections of the Council, including providing expert advice in relation to laboratory services and testing, oversight of sample handling and dispatch, data management and the maintenance and calibration of field instruments.
Mōu - About you
The position would be suitable for someone who holds a graduate qualification in a field that is relevant to chemistry and/or microbiology; and has experience in an analytical laboratory. Ideally, you will have experience in programme management and budgeting. Good communication and coordination skills are also essential.
We like to set people up for success, so you'll be a leading applicant if you also have:
- prior experience with sample processing and dispatch
- practical knowledge of analytical data management and quality control management
- experience with contract administration and day to day financial management.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to be flexible and agile in your practice to provide outcomes
- Proven interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
