Here at New Plymouth District Council we are on a journey to become the leaders in contemporary local government. To do this we need great people on board to ensure we succeed. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced health and wellbeing professional to join us and participate in our journey for wellbeing excellence as a member of our safety team.

This role will be responsible for enabling a workplace culture that focuses on the short and long-term resilience of NPDC and its staff through the development of health and wellbeing initiatives and programs. You will also be responsible for controlling occupational health risk by ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and procedures. The role has a holistic view of occupational health and wellbeing and is responsible for ensuring procedures and strategies are in place to maximise the physical, mental and psychosocial health of our staff.

Reporting to the H&S Lead, you will work with colleagues in the People & Wellbeing team and leaders across the organization to ensure the development of interventions and training programs that will support NPDC in achieving its goals.

Ideally you will come to us as a NZ registered health professional with previous clinical experience and at least five years' experience in a similar, complex environment preferable in the local government or other public sector organisations with experience with development and delivery of training. To be successful in this role, you must have significant experience in occupational health strategies and industry best practice.
