About the Role - The Council's property portfolio includes a wide range of facilities which fill diverse needs for the organisation and the community. The primary activities of the Facilities Officer role is to provide excellent customer service to users of the district's facilities (cemeteries, halls, public toilets, playgrounds and public spaces) and ensure these facilities are well maintained and safe for use. In addition, this role will also assist the Facilities Supervisor with external contract monitoring to ensure compliance and deliver pest control and noxious plant removal programmes for properties and reserve areas across the district.
Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy role with plenty of variety from undertaking regular inspections of Council facilities and reporting any maintenance issues, managing pest control and noxious plant removal programmes for properties and reserve areas including Self Help Possum Control programme and action TRC Notices to Fix for pests and weeds as required. It will also verify and maintain record keeping for cemetery information including for Interments, permits and monumental installation, ensure appropriate resourcing of summer seasonal freedom camping ambassadors (Kaitiaki) and monitor and ensure compliance of contractors with Council's health and safety requirements.
About You - You are versatile, multi-skilled and enjoy the challenge of a wide variety of work. You will be self-motivated and able to work under pressure, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. A positive, co-operative attitude, great people skills, a willingness to work in a busy team environment and sound written and oral communication skills are also required. You will also have practical experience in facility maintenance and/or contract monitoring and a clean valid NZ driver's license are essential for this role.

The salary range for this position is between $50,020pa and $57,800pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
