We are looking for a dedicated and team focused Compliance Officer to join our team! This is a permanent, full-time role based in Stratford, Taranaki.

Our Compliance Officers have a key role in achieving this mission.
Mo te tunga - About the role
You'll be monitoring various activities and operations within Taranaki to ensure that Council rules, policies and resource consents are being complied with. You'll be required to identify and report on incidents of non-compliance, undertake a thorough evidential investigation and recommend appropriate enforcement action under the Resource Management Act. You'll also be required to work proactively with the community to ensure that compliance is being achieved.
Mou - About you
Educating the public and resource users, promoting the sustainable and safe use of Taranaki's natural resources is a key part of this role, so excellent communication and negotiation skills are vital. Also critical to your success will be your ability to investigate and write consent reports on applications for both industrial and rural activities, together with strong computer literacy. Hours of work include a 24-hour on call week, approximately every 10 weeks.
Applicants will demonstrate experience in either forestry, farming or industrial practice, particularly treatment and disposal methods for agricultural and industrial wastes. Ideally, this will be reinforced with a relevant tertiary qualification. Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 would be an advantage. A current driver's licence is essential.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to be flexible and agile in your practice to provide outcome
- Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple jobs
