We have an exciting opportunity for experienced support workers who are comfortable working with Service Users who may require complex cares, or may be living with behaviours that challenge. We will also welcome applications from support workers with a mental health background.

Job Location – Hawera , New Plymouth and Whanganui


Responsibilities may Include:

· Working closely with our Service Users to provide support as they go about their daily tasks

· Assisting with complex personal cares

· Assisting with household management and meal preparation

· Supporting exercise programmes

· Assisting with accessing the community

· Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares

· Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers

· Medication support

· Support the Service Users in achieving positive goals in their lives and contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the services

· Maintaining the Service User’s safety and well-being.


About you | He momo

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.


The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):

· A supportive mindset to help our Service Users achieve their goals for independent living in the community

· Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred

· Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury

· A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)

· Access to your own car and ability to drive Independently ( a Full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)

· Flexibility to work on a rotating roster

· Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.


Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including AM, PM and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

· Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.03 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
