Position Overview:
Your work with the Parihaka Papakāinga Trust (Trust) revolves around providing a full range of communication-related services to support the day-to-day operations and general Governance of the Trust.
The Trust is guided by its principles as outlined in Ngā Tikanga and is committed to ensuring that the Trust’s approach to its communications with key audiences:
Privileges the Parihaka community with early notice of any announcement and previews to media releases;
Fosters positive working relationships with journalists favouring local outlets in print, broadcast and electronic platforms;
Is appropriate in its language and tone;
Is accurate and relevant in its content;
Is front-footed and proactive where ever practical; and
Upholds the reputation of Parihaka.
The role is guided by the Communications and Media Policy and the approved Communications Plan.
As the Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for the effective implementation of the Communications Plan for the Trust. Your role is critical to:
Fostering community confidence in the Trust
Promoting community participation in Parihaka Papakāinga kaupapa
Supporting trustees to be effective governors
There will be a need for our community to be well informed on the progress of the workstreams within the Parihaka Development Plan. One of the 37 workstreams is Communications and the desired outcomes that have been agreed by the Trustees and community are:
Whanau have the knowledge and skills to participate fully
Website & Social Media Development, Maintenance and Promotion is co-ordinated, cohesive and consistent
Parihaka audiences are informed and knowledgeable of Parihaka issues
As with all of the Trust’s personnel, you play an important role in contributing to the Trust achieving its strategic priorities.
Terms:
Term of Contract: This is a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months with a review period before contract end date
Remuneration: Remuneration will be in accordance with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week (some evening and weekend work required)
Work Location: The work location will vary between two locations;
Hendrie Street, Block N, WITT Campus, New Plymouth
