About the opportunity

We are currently looking for 2 new Automation Engineers, one based in Palmerston North, and the other based in Eltham.

In this role, you will play a key role in the support of the Fonterra automation systems, implementing minor plant improvements, and supporting the technology involved in site automation and control systems.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving the hardware and software of the control systems in your region, to ensure high availability of manufacturing plant to site, to support NZ Manufacturing (NZM) and Global Assets & Technology (GAT) objectives.

There will also be the opportunity to be involved or lead National Automation initiatives which may be implemented on all Fonterra Sites.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Automation Engineer with strong systems knowledge. You’ll have a background working with automated systems, PLC control, input/output devices, and supervisory systems.

You’ll be self-managing, with a disciplined and logical approach to problem-solving. You enjoy working collaboratively and share your expertise to benefit team members and enable successful project delivery.

In addition, you will have:

Proven automation engineering experience
An electrical and/or PLC background would be a huge bonus, but is not essential
Previous factory or manufacturing site experience
Strong people skills
Rockwell systems experience
