We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Service Technician to join our team at our New Plymouth Dealership. We make things happen by providing exceptional customer solutions for every customer every time.
The opportunity:
This position will provide you with training and experience to service and repair heavy vehicles such as agricultural tractors, balers, implements, excavators, lawn / turf care and any other machine as directed to a high standard while completing your apprenticeship.
A Norwood apprenticeship provides you with up to four years of on-the-job training, equipping you with a NZQA approved New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering. Due to the current ongoing shortage of skilled diesel mechanics in New Zealand and globally, upon completion of your apprenticeship you will be a qualified tradesperson in a skill short industry.
Apprenticeships involve problem solving, effective communication, an enquiring mind and determination. You need to be a hands-on type of person who likes working with machinery. If you’re keen and willing to learn you will receive a well-rounded introduction to our business. From there it’s up to you!
An apprenticeship with Norwood will give you:

To be successful you will need:
Applicants ideally will have achieved an minimum of NCEA Level 2 and may have completed a pre-trade course or have work experience in a related mechanical/trade field. A full driver’s licence is preferred but you must hold a restricted class 1 licence as a minimum.
This apprenticeship opportunity will be funded under the Government’s Regional Apprenticeship Initiative (RAI). In order to be eligible for this scheme, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Displaced regional worker or learner whose employment has been adversely affected by COVID-19
From Māori ethnicity
From Pasifika ethnicity
A female looking to engage in a diesel apprenticeship
