THE ROLE: We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Senior Timber Machinist to join our production team. Based in our Machine Shop, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient setup and operation of timber processing machinery. Working closely with the Machine Shop Supervisor and the wider team, you’ll help deliver high-quality timber products, support production goals, and maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.

This role is hands-on and suited to someone with solid experience in machining timber, who takes pride in their work and is confident in identifying and resolving minor issues before they become major problems.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate and set up timber machining equipment, including planers, bandsaws, spindle moulders and sanders.

Ensure products meet quality specifications and tolerances, completing in-process checks and reporting defects as required.

Work efficiently and independently, keeping machines running smoothly and proactively assisting the team when needed.

Monitor machine condition and communicate maintenance needs promptly to reduce downtime.

Follow all Health & Safety and environmental procedures, including correct use of PPE, safe manual handling, and machine guarding checks.

Support new team members with informal guidance and knowledge sharing.

Pre-employment checks, including drug screening, Ministry of Justice checks, and role-relevant competency testing, will apply.

Role Requirements: This is a great opportunity for someone who is experienced on the tools and looking to take the next step as a senior team member. You’ll need to have a strong attention to detail, solid understanding of timber machining, and a proactive, safety-first approach.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience in timber machining.

Good understanding of machine safety, guarding, and lockout procedures.

A commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work and meeting production targets.

Confidence in reading measurements and setting machines to meet specifications.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude toward teamwork.

Basic computer literacy.

Forklift licence and/or mechanical aptitude would be a plus.

You’ll also have a positive can-do attitude, with the ability to undertake work in a safe and efficient way to ensure our health and safety, quality standards and production requirements are met. This is a busy role within a small team so to be successful you will need to thrive on a challenge, be a great multi-tasker and able to lead a team to great heights.
