Te āheinga - The opportunity

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Supervisor to lead our District Planning team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning process, manage a team of planners, and collaborate with stakeholders to shape the future growth and development of New Plymouth District.

Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:

- Provide RMA expertise and process RMA and related applications
- Monitor workflow and team throughput to ensure compliance with statutory time frames
- Drive continuous improvement, team training and own team quality system in conjunction with team Lead and Reg services QA officers
- Provide support and guidance to other planners in the Consents team
- Process complex resource consent applications and provide expert evidence at planning hearings
- Ensure customer needs are met and deliver a high quality and cost effective service
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry sectors
- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key resource management legislation
- Actively ensure that good employer obligations and legislative requirements are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:

- Relevant tertiary resource management qualification
- Eligibility for membership of a professional institute
- Extensive experience (ideally six years plus) in a resource management field, preferably in local government
