Here at Methanex, our New Zealand business is proud to be based in the Taranaki region. We’re an established global business and we’re the world’s largest supplier of Methanol.

Methanol has a vital role to play in a sustainable future. From solar power, wind turbines and electric cars to essentials like clothes, pharmaceuticals, furniture and more, methanol is an important part of the mix. Could your future start here? Let’s find out.

We believe that a lasting career offers great people like you even greater opportunities, from quality of life to benefits you truly deserve. And it’s people like you that will continue to develop our company and our community into something incredible.

We’re hiring a Graduate Instrument and Electrical Engineer to start in our Technical Department in early 2026. If you’re the right match for us, you’ll enjoy getting stuck into high quality engineering, from day one. We want you to experience, learn and grow – so get set for an impressive variety of challenging and hands-on opportunities. Whether it’s helping improve our reticulated 11kV systems protection, innovating the use of new instrumentation and controls, commissioning a complex process system, or ensuring best practice in safety is applied across the site. You’ll be doing all of this to industry standards and learning from experts in the field. It’s the ultimate way to learn, understand and set yourself up for ongoing success in a large-scale engineering / petrochemical / manufacturing facility.

As you’d expect, a BE(Hons) in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, is essential to this role. We’ll also be looking for a basic understanding of the petrochemical industry, and knowledge of electric machines, electrical protection and instrumentation for pressure, temperature and level control. If you’re familiar with engineering software packages used in determining electrical characteristics and instrumentation specification then that is ideal, as is a good understanding of project management fundamentals.

In return, you can look forward to an impressive chance to kickstart your career, with great development opportunities and exposure to all areas of our manufacturing plant. And let’s not forget the chance to network and learn from global experts across our multiple production sites, not to mention flexible working options and regular team building and bonding events.

You’ll also help us play a big role in our local community, investing in partnerships that nurture positive health, education and environmental outcomes for Taranaki. We’re proud to partner with our local hapū and iwi on projects that respect, enhance and protect the whenua (land) upon which we operate.

Ready for the future – a future that'll also allow you to maximise your quality of life in the amazing Taranaki region? Then let's get together and make great things happen.

Applications close 29 June 2025.
