Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Alarm Technician to join our Taranaki team.
About the role
This is a full-time permanent position with a guaranteed 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. We provide our customers with 24/7 callout support therefore the role includes rostered on call duties. Rate for this role is $35-$42 per hour.
The role is based at our New Plymouth branch.
The nature of the work involves keeping cool under pressure and thinking on your feet to problem solve. Your positive attitude, effective communication skills and sense of humour will help you to get along with customers and the team.
In order to hit the ground running, you will need to bring a minimum of 3 years’ experience “on the tools” and have a full valid NZ Driver Licence, and knowledge of fire alarm systems used in NZ and the NZ & AU Fire Alarm Standards.
Your role will include but not be limited to:
Diagnosing Fire Alarm system faults
Repairing faults
Minor installation work
Rostered On-Call to attend afterhours call outs.
Completion of Fire Alarm Annual Surveys
Assisting the team as required.
You will hold:
A clean, full NZ driver licence
Affinity to work at heights.
Ability to be part of On Call Roster
Preferably hold NZQA Alarm & Fire Detection L4 or be working towards this qualification
Alternatively a minimum of 3 years’ experience with fire alarms in New Zealand.
Be familiar with relevant NZS 4512 and the Building Act.
Great customer service and communication skills
Sound technical and problem-solving skills.
Clean Criminal history record
Hold the right to work in New Zealand
