The opportunity - Te āheinga

Are you passionate about the great outdoors and have a deep knowledge of plants? Join the NPDC Parks team as a Field Staff Horticulturist at the beautiful Pukekura Park!

In this role, you will:

- maintain and enhance the park's diverse plant collections
- perform planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden maintenance and lawn care
- monitor plant health and manage pest control
- assist in the planning and implementation of horticultural projects including hard landscaping
- engage with park visitors, providing information and promoting plant conservation.

Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:

- Ensure all health and safety directions/instructions are followed
- Carry out horticulture, hard landscaping and turf culture work as scheduled/directed
- Engage with the public and provide a quality customer service
- Utilises resources effectively
- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako:

- Field experience in the maintenance of Parks and Reserves that may include cemeteries, horticulture, arboriculture, turf culture, hard landscaping
- Driver's licence for relevant vehicle classes
- General fitness at a level to be able to cope with the demands of the job
- A passion for horticulture and the outdoors
- Use of agrichemicals

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $59,279 - $61,856 based on experience and qualifications.
