It’s an excellent time to be joining New Plymouth District Council with the Integrated Transport Strategy in development and the approved long-term plan providing for considerable infrastructure investment. You’ll be coming into a strong technical team tasked with planning the district’s transportation infrastructure and ensuring it meets the current and future requirements of the district.

The Challenge

Lead a small team of Transportation Planning and Engineering professionals, providing direction and support, and enabling the team to perform at its best.
Oversee the preparation of strategic plans (includes the Integrated Transport Strategy) and asset management plans for the long-term development of New Plymouth’s transportation infrastructure. This includes stakeholder engagement.
Oversee and develop strategic, programme and detailed business cases for infrastructure projects.
Oversee the delivery of infrastructure planning projects, operating as Project Manager as required.
Engage with the community, and form collaborative working relationships within Council and with consultants and regulatory authorities.
Your Skills

Tertiary qualification in Transportation Planning or Civil/Transportation Engineering, and 7+ years of related experience.
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative working style.
