You’ll be joining New Plymouth District Council at a critical time with the approved long-term plan providing for considerable infrastructure investment. This is a newly created position within the Infrastructure Projects team so there is real opportunity to bring your ideas and experience and make a difference.

The Challenge

Work closely with Project Managers and provide commercial support at procurement and construction stages of infrastructure projects. Includes contract documentation and tender pricing schedules, tender review, monthly payment assessments, variation and compensation approvals, cost assurance auditing, actual vs estimated cost analysis.
Lead the development of budget estimates for infrastructure projects at business case and project planning stages.
Create, maintain, and utilise a cost database to deliver accurate, realistic cost estimates.
Work within and support advanced procurement practices and NEC 4 form of contract.
Work closely with colleagues, consultants and contractors, and be an integral member of cross-organisation project delivery teams.
Your Skills

Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
7+ years’ of related experience including cost estimation/quantity surveying in the civil engineering, 3 waters or building sectors.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
A strong delivery focus with excellent judgement and a degree of comfort to make decisions under pressure and take a pragmatic approach.
