About the Role - As a Building Control Officer, you'll play a key role in assessing and inspecting building work, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.

Do you have what it takes? - This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who thrives on challenge and impact. As a Building Control Officer, you'll conduct site inspections, assess building consent applications—including complex projects—and ensure compliance with the Building Act and NZ Building Code. You'll also investigate complaints, enforce legislation, and report on non-compliance, contributing directly to public safety and community confidence.

About You - You're a practical problem-solver with a strong customer focus and a knack for building positive relationships. Experience in the building sector is valued, but your ability to work collaboratively, communicate clearly, and navigate complex situations with empathy and professionalism is what sets you apart. A clean driver's licence and a proactive can-do attitude are essential.

Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.

This is a full-time permanent 40 hours per week position offering salary range between $78,795pa and $107,200pa. The appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
